Any speculations on the new Ubuntu operating system? It looks really nice.

RE: Ubuntu 9.04 - Jaunty Jackalope
I'll be interested to see how it looks like. Currently, I'm on the LTS version of Ubuntu, but if the internet actually works, I'll consider upgrading to 9.04.

RE: Ubuntu 9.04 - Jaunty Jackalope
I'm excited to see it. I'm currently running Ubuntu Server 8.10 (the short term one). Just testing and messing with it right now, but hope to have it up and running for a web server for fun before much longer.

I haven't had Ubuntu installed for a while, I might download the latest version tonight, install and give it a test run.

I've always had problems with Intrepid Ibex, but Hardy Heron has been great for me.

RE: Ubuntu 9.04 - Jaunty Jackalope
I'm not sure if this problem still exists, but in the past on one of my old computers Ubuntu would hang on booting. I troubleshooted a bit and found out that the problem was related to my onboard video..
I was using a dedicated Geforce FX 5200 in one of my old computers which also had an onboard Intel 82845GV integrated graphics. Even though I disabled the onboard video in my bios, Ubuntu still would refuse to boot because of the fact it was there. I had to edit the /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist file and add my onboard Intel graphics to the blacklist so I could successfully boot into Ubuntu with my Geforce FX 5200.. Is anyone here using a dedicated graphics card, has an onboard gpu in addition to dedicated graphics and can boot Ubuntu without problems? This problem may not occur now, since I just built a new system with a Core2Duo E8500, Geforce 9800 GT and 4 GB of ram. However the motherboard has onboard Intel graphics so I'll have to see if I run into that problem again. ![]() Xtemulation Forums - Emulation Support Xtemulation Wiki - Emulation Wiki |

Have you tried booting into recovery mode at all?
