I've been wondering since my latest Trilogy of Error design has been sliced mostly using PNG-24 images, which for the most part are incompatible with Internet Explorer, period. It seems that they don't like partial transparent images, I guess =/.

Yep. I really hate making a site look good in Firefox and then finding out it looks awful in IE, so I always check as I go.

Theoretically we should, but some people just don't. Most big companies would, I'd assume.

Oh well, I needed PNGs, GIFs didn't support partial transparency.

Internet Explorer is still the most popular web browser, so it is a mistake not to create a website with Internet Explorer in mind. I am not a graphic guru though. I hire people to do most of my web graphics.

Since im not really a web designer I just do it for fun, I just make sure it looks good in all browsers and none have major problems.

Sadly, elchefe is right...IE is still the most popular browser (although most of us here agree that it sucks), so it really would be a mistake to completely ignore IE. If I knew more about graphics, and had a solution to your transparency problem I would be more than happy to share it...lol! I'm no artist, there is no doubt about that.

I used too.

I know html pretty well but for some reason I lack when it comes to css. I actually really want to get into it more, as I used to do well but I do lack with creating images. all my sites looked between "beginner" and "semi pro".. though I did get the odd person asking me to do one for them too.

When designing I really consider all browsers, though I aim for firefox as IMO it's more popular than i.e.

As long as it renders correctly in IE, good enough. Building for FF and real standards compliance more interesting.

RE: Do you create a web design with Internet Explorer in mind?
I build for standards compliance first, then I go back and play with things to fix them to look right in IE. I've learned a few tricks in the time that I've been building sites, and most of the time I'm able to avoid any major malfunctions on the first IE load. However, if you're not testing at least three browsers (Firefox, IE 6/7[8 now I guess too], and Safari) you're going to have some people that are going to be frustrated at your website.
